Louisiana Blue Earns National Recognition from Points of Light as The Civic 50® Honoree for Eighth Consecutive Year
Company receives inaugural award recognizing leadership in employee volunteerism

June 23, 2026

(Baton Rouge, LA) — Points of Light, the world’s largest organization dedicated to increasing volunteering, has named Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana (Louisiana Blue) a 2026 honoree of The Civic 50®.  Louisiana Blue has earned this prestigious national recognition for eight straight years. The Civic 50® recognizes the 50 most community-minded companies in the United States. Honorees are chosen based on a comprehensive annual survey.

“Today’s leading companies understand that community engagement is more than a program, it’s a reflection of their commitment to advancing social impact in ways that strengthen both their company and the communities they serve,” said Jennifer Sirangelo, president and CEO of Points of Light. “Louisiana Blue demonstrates how to embed purpose into the employee experience, build authentic relationships with communities and use business as a force for good. We’re proud to honor them with the 2026 Civic 50 award.”

In addition to this recognition, Louisiana Blue received Points of Light’s inaugural Employee Volunteer Recognition Program Award, further highlighting its leadership in celebrating and elevating employee volunteerism.

The company was recognized for its Blue Angel award, an innovative program that honors employees for their community impact beyond the workplace. The Blue Angel award is embedded within the Louisiana Blue Foundation’s longstanding program, The Angel Award, which has recognized individuals improving the lives of Louisiana’s children for more than 30 years.

Through an open, statewide nomination process, employees are evaluated alongside community honorees, ensuring their contributions are recognized with the same rigor and prestige. Each year, one employee is selected as the Blue Angel and receives a $30,000 grant to support a nonprofit of their choice — amplifying the impact of their service.

By spotlighting employees who are deeply engaged in their communities and giving coworkers a chance to recognize and celebrate their colleagues' work through the nomination process, the program reinforces a culture where giving back is celebrated and continuously growing across the organization.

“We’re proud to be named to The Civic 50 for the eighth consecutive year, and we are truly honored to receive the first-ever Employee Volunteer Recognition Program Award,” said Michael Tipton, Louisiana Blue Foundation president and vice president, Community Relations. “This recognition reflects a culture where our employees see themselves as deeply connected to this amazing state and want to do good for our friends and neighbors. Showing up for our communities isn’t an initiative to us, it’s simply part of who we are. And as shown with the special award, it’s also important to our employees to recognize and celebrate those team members who are going above and beyond to improve the health and lives of Louisianians. That inspires more people to get involved and make a difference.”

“Congratulations to Louisiana Blue on being named a recipient of the Employee Volunteer Recognition Program Award,” Sirangelo said. “This recognition reflects Louisiana Blue’s commitment to advancing corporate social impact through programs that meaningfully celebrate and honor employees’ volunteer contributions and inspire others to become more engaged.”

Now in its 14th year, The Civic 50® is the nation’s leading corporate social impact recognition program, celebrating excellence in employee volunteering, community investment and social impact strategy. The Civic 50® survey, which recognizes large public and private companies with a focus on community support and service, allows corporate social responsibility (CSR) teams to track purposeful volunteering, giving and community engagement insights.

In 2025, Louisiana Blue employees volunteered 38,000 hours with nonprofit and community organizations statewide. The company and its employees also gave over $3 million in charitable contributions, per the company’s annual Community Partnerships Report

“At Points of Light, we believe companies have an important role to play in mobilizing people, strengthening communities and creating lasting, sustainable impact. Louisiana Blue’s leadership demonstrates what is possible when service, purpose and partnership come together to address community needs. We are proud to celebrate Louisiana Blue and its continued commitment to building stronger, more resilient communities,” Sirangelo said.

The survey includes quantitative and multiple-choice questions that inform the scoring process. The Civic 50® remains the only survey and ranking system focused exclusively on measuring corporate community engagement.
