(Baton Rouge, LA) — The Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana Foundation (Louisiana Blue Foundation) is accepting nominations for The Angel Award®. This prestigious award recognizes extraordinary Louisianians whose compassion, leadership and commitment are making a meaningful difference in the lives of children across the state. The Foundation will accept nominations through Feb. 14 online at www.labluefoundation.org/nominate

Each year, the Foundation selects eight Angels, everyday people who go above and beyond to improve the health and lives of children in our state.  The Foundation will make a $30,000 grant to a Louisiana-based nonprofit chosen by each 2026 honoree.

The Foundation also recognizes one “Blue Angel,” an employee of Louisiana Blue who has improved the lives of children through volunteer work. Members of the public, including nonprofits with whom employees volunteer, may nominate a potential Blue Angel. The Foundation will also make a $30,000 grant to that honoree’s nonprofit of choice.

“What truly defines our Angels is the heart behind their work,” said Michael Tipton, president of the Louisiana Blue Foundation. “They’re deeply connected to their communities and driven by a commitment to improving the lives of children – often doing important work behind the scenes and seeking no recognition. This program is made possible by the people who take the time to recognize that work and bring these stories forward.“

Past Angel Award honorees have made their mark in education, housing, the arts, support services of children with disabilities and much more. Profiles of all past honorees can be found at www.labluefoundation.org

Persistence Pays Off
With hundreds of nominations submitted each year, Tipton encourages nominators not to be discouraged if their nominee isn’t selected, but to resubmit and continue sharing stories that demonstrate lasting impact. And for those who submitted a nominee in past years who was not chosen – submit their story again.

“Not being selected isn’t a reflection of the value of the work being done,” Tipton said. “With so many meaningful nominations, the decision often comes down to very small differences. We encourage nominators to stay engaged and continue lifting up those who are making a difference for Louisiana’s kids.”

There is no cost to nominate, and Louisianians can nominate as many people as they feel are deserving of this honor. The online nomination form asks for responses to a short series of questions and should take 30 minutes or less to complete.

To help guide nominators through the process, the Foundation hosted a brief informational webinar with resources that are available online

Louisiana Blue Foundation will announce those selected as 2026 Angel Award honorees in late August and will honor them at a gala this fall.

About the Louisiana Blue Foundation

Since 2020, the Foundation has made more than $40 million in grants to nonprofits addressing public health, COVID-19 response, and natural disasters. The Foundation also facilitates connections between the communities, leaders, and everyday people who are working to make life better for their friends, families, and neighbors.
